NLAI Ministry Update | September 2025
When my wife, Wendy, was a child, her family often opened their home to missionaries. One day, a missionary in Liberia painted a picture that never left her:
Imagine a big log being carried. On one end there are nine people, and on the other, only one. Where would you go to help?
That simple illustration is what first stirred Wendy’s heart for missions. And it’s a reminder for all of us: we are each called to take our place in God’s work. Whether through praying, giving, or going, every role matters in advancing the Kingdom.
At New Life Advance International, we see daily how God transforms lives in Guatemala (and soon Belize!) one child, one family, one generation at a time. And you can be a part of that story.
Ways You Can Serve with NLAI
1 - Pray
Lift up those who are raising support to serve, like Sarah Kennedy and Sydney O’Guinn as they prepare for long-term service with Little Pasos (LP) and Lizzie Gunter and Eloy Reyna Jr. as they prepare for internships at New Life Children’s Home (NLCH)-Guatemala. Please also remember Robert and Keva Fowlkes as they raise support and seek partners to help launch NLCH-Belize.
2 - Long-Term Missions
Is God calling you to serve more deeply? Current needs include:
Nurse - RN or LVN, Spanish speaker or willing to learn (NLCH-Guatemala)
English Teachers (NLCH-Guatemala & LP)
Child Sponsorship Coordinator (NLCH-Guatemala)
Youth Pastor (NLCH-Guatemala & New Life Christian School-Guatemala)
Communications / Social Media (NLAI)
Missionaries to launch NLCH-Belize
The role of a Nurse for NLCH-Guatemala is especially pressing. This person will accompany children to doctor’s appointments, manage prescriptions, and prepare medical reports. Clear communication is vital, so Spanish fluency, or a willingness to learn, is essential.
3 - Internship
For those seeking to discern God’s call, NLAI offers internships from two months to two years. Interns grow in their walk with Christ, receive Spanish language training, and serve alongside our staff. Whether for a summer or a season, internships are a life-changing opportunity to explore God’s calling.
4 - Join a Short-Term Trip
Churches, schools, and other groups regularly come to serve at NLCH-Guatemala, and we look forward to hosting them at our other ministries in the future. Teams help with projects, encourage our staff, and spend meaningful time with the children. Some bring professional skills, like construction, teaching, or healthcare, while others simply bring willing hands and hearts. Each trip is a powerful way to serve, grow, and be part of what God is doing here.
Every act of service at NLAI reaches children who will one day raise families, lead communities, and shape nations. When you pray, give, or go, you’re investing in a transformation that multiplies far beyond one moment in time.
What about you? Where might God be asking you to step in and help carry the log?
We invite you to pray about your role — and if you feel called, to take the next step today.
