A Little Pasos Update / September 2025

Happy September!

Hello Friends!

We hope everyone had a wonderful and safe Labor Day Weekend!  We celebrate Labor Day on May 1st, no matter what day it falls on.  We are so filled with excitement as we pray and dream about what’s next—our brand-new 1st grade class in 2026. God is growing us, and we are so thankful for everything He has done and everything He’s about to do.

Funding FIRSTS!

We’re thrilled to announce our next big step: adding a 1st grade classroom in 2026—and we need your help to reach our goal of $30,000!

This isn’t just about building a classroom. For many of our students, this will mean becoming the FIRST in their families to…
graduate high school
speak English
or even give their lives to Jesus

At Little Pasos, we are in the business of hope and breaking chains, and we need your help to do it!

How You Can Help

You can give a monthly gift, make a special donation, or sponsor a student! Here’s what’s needed for our 1st grade classroom:

  • 10 Desks — $112 each

  • 12 Chairs — $36 each

  • 3 Shelves — $250 each

  • Books (Spanish & English)

  • Educational toys (manipulatives, puzzles, fidgets, phonics games, etc.)

  • TV — $338

  • Student Sponsorship — $35/month

In November, Tara will be in the U.S. for our final Funding FIRSTS push! If you know individuals, churches, or organizations who may want to partner with us, please reach out so she can connect with them.

Zumba Saturdays

We’ve launched free Zumba classes for moms on Saturday mornings—and they’ve been such a blessing! These gatherings are not only fun but also creating deeper community, space for prayer, and closer relationships between moms and staff. We’ve already had 3 classes, and the energy has been amazing!  It has been a wonderful opportunity to share prayer requests and pray together!

This is our why…

One of our sweet students recently came into the office in tears, upset with a classmate who had hurt her feelings. After talking it out, I asked if she’d like to pray for her classmate. Through her tears, she said “Yes!” So we hugged tight and prayed—asking God to help her friend’s heart and to give us patience with others.

Moments like this remind us why Little Pasos exists: to create space for children to experience God’s love, practice forgiveness, and grow in faith.

Independence Month

September 15th is Guatemala’s Independence Day, and schools all across the country are filled with tradition and celebration!

At Little Pasos, we’ll host a “mercadito” (mini market) where families will prepare and sell classic Guatemalan dishes.  All proceeds go directly to the families.

Our students are already practicing the first verse of the Guatemalan national anthem, learning a traditional marimba dance, and preparing to celebrate in a way that points every heart back to God.  Please pray for a joyful, smooth, and Christ-centered event!

Prayer Requests

Would you join us in praying for:

  • Provision for Funding FIRSTS

  • Stronger relationships between staff and parents

  • Full funding for Sydney, our missionary

  • Growth in students’ knowledge of God and deeper relationships with Him

  • Hearts of understanding, repentance, and transformation in our students

  • Continued blessing over our Zumba classes and connections

  • Full funding for Sarah, another missionary!

  • Grace, wisdom, and boldness for our staff as we share the Gospel daily

With Gratitude

Thank you for every prayer, every donation, and every word of encouragement. God’s love for these families is evident through His provision—and YOU are a part of that story.

Please continue to pray about supporting Little Pasos so we can joyfully open our 1st grade class next year.

God bless you abundantly,

— The Little Pasos Team
