Grace in Guate / October 2025
God is good. We all go through
seasons, some are full of
excitement and others are focused
on putting one foot in front of the
other. I’m coming out of one of the
latter seasons. The days felt long
and joy was difficult to find at
times. I am so grateful for the
people that God provides to lift us
up, to encourage us and to walk
alongside. Looking back on the
past few months, I can see God’s
faithfulness and I am so grateful.
Celebrations
September is my birthday month as well as Guatemala’s Independence Day. Our school celebrated with a full day of choreographed songs by each grade. They incorporated traditional and Christian songs to create something unique and quite impressive! October 1st was also Children’s Day which I celebrated with each of my groups.
New and Old
Last week I started back into the reinforcement program that is not new. During time off from school, specific students work on needed math and reading skills. Our older kids are paired with a younger kid and they learn through games and hands on activities.
The NEW: I have been asked to serve as the English coordinator for our school. I will continue teaching math and reading with students in first through third grade. I will no longer see students in fourth through sixth grade. The reduction of grade levels will allow me to work with the English teachers as well. I will be observing classes, making recommendations, reviewing exams, etc. This is my first “leadership role” within the school setting. I am excited to see the changes we can implement this year!
